  • What is a CoolPeel® and what makes it different?

CoolPeel® is a brand new way to safely and comfortably deliver the benefits of a traditional CO2 resurfacing treatment. By targeting just the superficial layer of skin tissue, damaged skin is removed — revealing younger and healthier looking skin.

CO2 lasers are the gold standard in treating wrinkles, age spots, acne scars, and other blemishes. In addition, they tighten skin and balance tone. Damaged skin is removed, or ablated, stimulating new collagen production while heat energy is delivered to tighten the skin. Sounds great — but CO2 treatments are often accompanied by considerable downtime and risk while the damaged skin heals.

Many advancements have been made to improve the side effects of CO2 treatments but ONLY the CoolPeele® can deliver a fractional ablative treatment without the downtime. There is minimal risk of hyperpigmentation, demarcation, or induced infection.

Who is a good candidate for CoolPeel®?

You are a good candidate for a CoolPeel® laser treatment if you are looking to reduce the appearance of fine lines and sun damage, minimize pores and improve skin texture. Your skin will look healthier and younger.

How long does a CoolPeel® take?

A full-face CoolPeel® laser peel can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend 1 to 4 treatments, depending on the aesthetic issue.

    Is anesthesia or numbing required?

While there is no need for anesthesia or localized numbing, your provider may use a numbing cream for additional comfort.

    What is my recovery time?

One of the main benefits of a CoolPeel® is that there is minimal downtime. You should expect to be a little red, as if you have a sunburn, for a day or two — but nothing should prevent you from returning to your normal daily activities. Your skin may feel dry and scaly as it heals so it is important to keep the skin hydrated.

When can I return to my skincare routine?

After your CoolPeel® treatment, it is important to keep your skin hydrated and there may be certain products you should avoid. Talk to your provider about the best post-treatment care and when you can return to your daily skincare regimen.

  • Why is RedTouch considered new technology?

RedTouch is the only laser to utilize the 675nm wavelength which reacts with collagen. All other laser technology uses the surrounding water as the target chromophore to produce heat and cause collagen remodelling. The RedTouch targets the collagen directly — thus reducing discomfort and risk from unnecessary heat. RedTouch is also effective in difficult to treat pigmentation like Melasma. Practices across Europe and Asia have seen incredible results with RedTouch.

What can I expect with a RedTouch treatment?

A treatment can be done quickly without the need for numbing, and an integrated contact cooling system further adds to the comfort of the treatment. One RedTouch treatment lasts for 30 minutes on average. During the procedure, there is no discomfort — only a sensation of warmth and a slight tickle when treating especially sensitive areas. (For example, the area around the eyes.) Redness after the procedure disappears within a few hours.

How many treatments will I need?

3 to 5 treatments (one every 30 days). The exact duration of the course depends on the specific aesthetic issue.

    What is the post-treatment care?

After treatment, do not rub and/or scratch the treated areas. No excessive exercise, intense sports, swimming or hot tub use while discolouration is present. Cleanse the skin gently with a mild cleanser. Avoid direct sun exposure. We recommend that you wear an SPF 40 or higher during the course of treatment.

  • What is the skin preparation for Laser Hair Removal?

Patients should not tweeze, wax, sugar, use hair removal creams, or have electrolysis for 6 weeks before treatments as to not disturb the hair follicle. Shaving is the preferred method for reducing hair in between treatments.

The treatment area should be shaved 24-48 hours prior to treatment. Skin must be clean and dry from all lotions, perfumes, make-up, deodorant, self tanners, etc.

    Why can’t I have a sun tan?

It is not safe to perform laser treatments of any sort on tanned skin. It puts you at risk for burning, scarring, or skin damage. We will not treat anyone if we see a visible tan; it’s just not worth the risk. Use an SPF 30 or higher at all times throughout the course of treatment.

How often will I need to come in for my treatments?

Hair re-growth occurs at different rates on different areas of the body. Typically 4-6 weeks.

How many treatments will I need?

We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments to see a reduction of approximately 80% less hair. For near permanent hair loss you may require 4-8 treatments. Results vary because hair growth is driven by hormones.

Why won’t laser hair removal work on white, grey, blonde, or red hair?

Light coloured hair cannot be treated by laser. The laser device is looking for melanin which gives our hair and skin color. When there is no melanin or very little melanin, the laser cannot deliver the heat energy to damage the hair bulge.

I am a person of color, is it safe to have laser hair removal?

Our medical grade, true laser is safe on all skin types.

  • Will it hurt?

Your treatment should not hurt. We numb the treatment area for 30 minutes prior to using the microneedling device. You might feel a slight bit of pressure as your skin may be pulled taught and you might feel some vibration from the device on your jawline or orbital rim area.

What will I look like after my treatment?

Your skin will appear sunburned and you might have some minor inflammation. This might last for 24-48 hours. You may feel dry and bumpy for a few days after and that could last up to a week post-treatment. Your skin may appear very lined (aged) for a few days.

Can I wear makeup after microneedling?

If possible, do not apply makeup or any other products for 8-12 hours. You will given hydrating capsules for use within the first 12-24 hours. Before bedtime, we recommend that you cleanse with a gentle hydrating cleanser and use a hydrating capsule.

Can I have microneedling in the summer or if I have a tan?

Microneedling can be safely performed during the summer months, but you must wear your sunscreen to protect your compromised skin after your treatment. It is best to avoid direct sunlight for 12-24 hours after treatment.

Is there anything I should avoid after my treatment?

    Yes.

    • Direct sunlight should be avoided for 12-24 hours.

    • No excessive exercise for 6-12 hours post-treatment.

    • Avoid AHA products or clarifying lotion for 6-8 hours.

    • No hair removal for 2 days post-treatment.

  • What should I expect after my first treatment?

You may notice that your skin feels smoother, clean and hydrated. Many patients experience a refreshed appearance and glow.

How many treatments will I need?

To improve overall skin health and appearance — and for skin conditions such as acne,  pigmentations, rosacea, and uneven skin tones — it’s important to have a series of treatments for the best results. 3-6 Bela treatments can be spaced 1-2 weeks apart. After this series, a  monthly treatment is recommended for continued support in maintaining healthy skin.

    Is there downtime?

Bela is a safe and gentle treatment with no downtime. After treatment, your skin may have a slight rosy glow for a few hours. You many need to protect your skin with a moisturizer and a physical broad-spectrum SPF30 sunscreen.

How many treatments will I need?

A recommended course of 6-12 Environ Ionzyme® DF Facials over a 3-6 month period helps to ensure that key skin concerns can be targeted. For example: sun damage, fine lines and  wrinkles, dehydration as well as sallow looking skin.

  • What is an AFA Peel?

AFA stands for amino-based filaggrin antioxidants.

AFA is formulated with a blend of amino-based filaggrin antioxidants to work synergistically with the skin’s other natural moisture factors (NMFs). Filaggrin is a protein of the epidermis  which metabolizes into amino acids and acts as one of the primary agents for retaining  moisture in the skin.

AFA products exfoliate, repair and refine skin with minimal irritation, making them an ideal solution for patients with all skin types who are experiencing acne, general signs of aging, or even sun damage.

What can I expect from an AFA Antioxidant Facial Peel?

You should experience only minor, temporary erythema (redness) after the treatment. Some exfoliation or flaking of skin can occur 24-48 hours after treatment.

The peel is formulated to create a tighter, firmer complexion as well as improvement in the overall appearance of the skin. Softening of fine lines. Combating dry skin. Smoothing out rough texture. Diminishing pigmentary problems. The AFA Antioxidant Facial Peel treats skin in a variety of ways.

What can I expect from an AFA Clay Peel?

Most patients experience little to no adverse effects from the AFA Clay Peel. On occasion, side effects such as mild swelling, redness, or peeling to mild scabbing have been experienced, and are temporary.

How many peels will I require?

It is recommended to have a series of 6 consecutive applications with each peel 2 weeks apart for dramatically improved, soft and smooth skin.

Which AFA Peel is right for me?

Please book a complimentary consultation with your skin therapist to determine a treatment plan suitable for your individual needs.

  • Is it safe?

Yes. Research and clinical studies have indicated that if teeth and gums are normal and healthy there are no adverse effects to cosmetic whitening.

    Who can whiten their teeth?

Almost anyone is a candidate for teeth whitening. However, treatment may not be as effective for some as it is for others. It is not recommended for children under 16 years of age and pregnant or lactating women.

    Are there any side effects?

Sensitivity during the treatment may occur with some patients. On rare occasions, minor tingling sensations are experienced immediately after the procedure, but always dissipate.

    How long will it last?

By following some simple post-whitening care instructions, your teeth will always be lighter than they were before. To keep your teeth looking their best, we recommend  flossing, brushing twice daily, and occasional whitening refresher sessions.

What are the contraindications for teeth whitening?

    • Teeth whitening may not be for you if you have gingivitis or gum diseases.

    • If the teeth that show when you smile have abrasions, attritions, or erosions (holes/decay).

    • Crowns, fillings, and dentures will not whiten.

    • Pregnancy, nursing.

How many treatments will I need?

You will notice a lightening of your teeth after your first treatment. Depending on your natural shade of teeth you may choose to have another treatment 28 days after your initial treatment. It is recommended to not have more than 3 whitening treatments in a 12 month period.

Why do I have white spots on my teeth after having my teeth whitened?

You may notice white spots occurring on the teeth while you are undertaking treatment. These spots were already present on the teeth before your treatment but you may not have noticed them. As the teeth become lighter they become more visible. Don’t worry! As the whole tooth itself becomes lighter, these spots will fade over the next week or so.

I have braces. Can I get my teeth whitened?

Yes, after they have been removed. It is a good idea to wait at least a month after getting braces off before any sort of bleaching or whitening treatment. This will give the newly exposed enamel time to become less sensitive.

  • What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a skin care treatment that removes dead skin cells and vellus hair using a small, sterile blade.

The procedure involves the use of a 10-inch scalpel, which curves into a sharp point. The blade is used on clean, dry skin on the forehead, cheeks, chin, nose and neck. You can expect to see an instant improvement in skin texture and tone. The long-term effects include increased cell turnover, fewer wrinkles and dark spots, reduction of acne scarring, and the removal of fine facial hair.

Will my hair grow back thicker and darker?

    No. That is a myth.

It is common to feel a little stubble as your hair starts growing back in after dermaplaning. This doesn’t mean that your hair is thicker or more coarse. It has to do with the way each hair was cut straight across. Because dermaplaning does not change the hair root, it cannot change the thickness or colour of the hair.

Is dermaplaning an effective hair removal method?

Dermaplaning does remove the fine vellus hair on our face; however, it is not a permanent solution for hair removal.
