During vascular treatment, the laser targets the vein, causing the blood inside it to clot.

Over time, the vein collapses and its appearance is diminished.

  • Vascular laser treatments utilize the Nd: YAG laser which targets oxyhemoglobin causing the capillary or vessel walls to constrict, collapse, and the blood inside it to clot. 

  • Most people are good candidates to have spider veins, capillaries, venous lake and cherry angiomas treated. You must not have freshly tanned skin. 

  • The size, location, and amount of  vascular lesions we are treating will determine the treatment time. Typically, treatments range from 10 to 30 minutes.

  • The number of treatments required will vary based on what and where the lesions are located. Usually 2-3 treatments are needed to fully clear the vascular lesion. 

  • Topical numbing is NOT used during this treatment as it can change the vessel dynamics.

  • You will likely have some redness to the treatment area along with some mild swelling and bruising. Bruising will last longer on the lower part of the body then the upper areas.

  • It recommended to avoid exercising or strenuous activity for 24-48 hours post treatment. Certain environments such as hot baths, hot tubs, steam rooms etc should also be avoided  for several days post treatment. If treating lower leg veins then compression support is recommended for several days post treatment.
